Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Only - Students complete the classroom portion at home with parents and driving completed with GLDA instructors.
Classroom Instruction Only – traditional or online students complete the driving portion at home with parents via Parent Taught Driver Education- transfer to parent taught assisted by Green Light Driving Academy Staff. Included at NO additional cost:
Parents may choose to teach their teen drivers education using a parent taught course. This can be a complicated & confusing process, especially if you don't know the "driver's education" lingo. $60- DPS Road Test- (Optional) –
(Discounted Rate- Currently non-non GLDA students pay $75 for the DPS Skills Test)-
Green Light Driving Academy is a 3rd party Testing Location. Upon completion of the driver education course, students may complete the DPS Road test with a GLDA examiner. The benefit is that GLDA tests after school and in the evenings and on the weekends. Typical DPS office are only open M-F 8am-5pm.
Adult students must have a valid learner's permit for the state of Texas.
6-HOUR TEXAS LEARNERS PERMIT COURSE
The class (through "IamRoadReady") is a 6-hour online course that includes the TX Dept. of Public Safety permit test. A certificate is provided upon successful completion of the course. This certificate, along with other documentation, is used to obtain the learner's permit from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
NOTE: This course is available for anyone over 18 years of age but IS a requirement for all persons age 18-24 to obtain the learners permit & to take the DPS Road Test.
The cost of the 6-hour online course (through IamRoadReady) is $39.00 (price subject to change & paid online).
